Win Streak Comes to an End on Horton Court

Jessup drops to 7-4 in GSAC play as the postseason draws near; Next on the schedule is Senior Night against Menlo

ROCKLIN, Calif. – With the nation's No. 11 ranked program in attendance, Jessup returned to work on Saturday with sights set on extending their four-match win streak. One winning streak did see an extension, but from the visitor's bench, as Vanguard swept Jessup to win their 19th match in a row.

Vanguard, now winners of 19 in a row, improve their impressive record to 21-1 overall. The Lions remain perfect in GSAC play with an 11-0 record, while Jessup drops to 7-4.

It was a back-and-forth battle to start Saturday's matinee, as Jessup climbed back from a 20-16 deficit to take a 21-20 lead. The opener needed more than 25 points to decide a winner but kills from VU's Morgan Cole and Delaney Hill sealed the deal to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.

The late VU momentum carried over into the second set, as the Lions jumped out to a 7-1 lead and eventually pushed that advantage to 20-11. Jessup did have a run in them, as three straight points gained the Warriors some momentum, but it wouldn't be enough as Vanguard won the set 25-16 to push their match lead to two.

Vanguard earned the sweep after taking the third set, 25-16.

Paulina Harris once again led the Warriors in the kill column, adding seven on Saturday. Newcomer to the starting lineup, Delaina Hunt also added seven.

The Warriors will be off for six days now before returning home on Saturday, October 21, for Senior Night against Menlo. The final home match of the year is scheduled for 5 p.m., but fans will want to be in their seats early as three seniors will be honored beforehand.

Tickets for Senior Night are on sale HERE.
