ATHERTON, Calif. – Competing on a neutral site in Atherton, the Warriors welcomed Chaminade to the mainland on Friday for a morning tennis duel. It was a perfect day for the Warriors, as Jessup swept the match, taking home a 7-0 victory.
It's the first
official victory of the season for the Warriors. While their record does read 2-7, Jessup's only other tally in the win column came via a forfeiture from OUAZ when they announced they would not field a team this season.
Doubles play saw victories come from the duo of
Jessica Holbea and Nicollet Alexender, 6-0, followed by
Aysha Hayes and
Stephanie Alsman winning their match 6-1. Jessup went 2-1 in doubles action, earning them the point.
Singles play then saw the Warriors sweep, going 6-0, with all matches ending in two sets.
The Warriors will be at their make-shift home of Folsom Lake College tomorrow, playing host to the College of Idaho Yotes. This will be the first meeting between the two programs in tennis.
Saturday's noon start will be the final home match of the season.
