Pacific Union Takes Down Jessup, 7-3

Kye Johnson assisted and scored goals for the Warriors in the first half; The Warriors now get a week off before returning to action

ANGWIN, Calif. – Jessup came into Monday looking to wrap up a busy week as the Warriors took the field for the fourth time in seven days. Taking on the Pioneers of Pacific Union, an early goal quickly went to the wayside as the Pioneers would take the match 7-3.

The loss moves the Warriors to 1-4-1 on the campaign. Jessup came into Monday's contest with some momentum behind them as they took down Warner Pacific on Saturday for the first victory of the season.

Jessup got the scoring started first as freshman Adelaide Mae Smtih scored the first goal of her collegiate career. The 9th-minute strike, assisted by Kye Johnson, had the Warriors out in front from the start, but the Pioneers were ready to strike back.

Making quick work, PUC added goals in the 12th, 13th, and 14th minutes of the match to pull ahead 3-1. Bella Cervantes of the Pioneers scored two of the goals, assisting the third that came via Mia Del Muro.

The Warriors fought back in the 33rd minute as Johnson netted her first goal of the season, giving her another point in Monday's scoresheet. At the intermission, the Warriors trailed 4-2 but had life.

Sensing the Warriors had momentum, PUC struck fast out of the break as Del Muro netted her second goal of the match in the 51st minute. Five minutes later, Cervantes was back at it, securing a hat trick with her third goal of the day. Verenia Gonzalez would tack on the Pioneers' third goal of the second half in the 73rd minute, setting the score at 7-2.

Jessup would get a late goal via Amanda Bell, her first goal with the Warriors, coming in the 82nd minute.

Following the loss, Jessup now heads back to campus with rest on their mind. Monday was the fourth time in seven days that the Warriors were in competition, and now they will get eight days of rest before returning to action against Academy of Art. That contest will take place in Rocklin on September 12.
