Win Streak Hits Four with Four Setter in Fresno

MacCuish and Sheridan finish the day with double-doubles; Jessup heads to Hawaii for three matches next week

FRESNO, Calif. – The Warriors continue to stack wins, as they pushed their three-match win streak to four on Saturday with a 3-1 victory in Fresno. Having swept the Northern California stint of their road trip, the attention now shifts to a week out west, as the Warriors will soon board a plane bound for Hawaii.

Jessup, who is in year one competing in the PacWest, have improved their conference record to .500 thanks to four straight wins. The Warriors are 9-8 overall, with an even 5-5 record in PacWest action.

Head coach Kyle Steele stuck to a small rotation on Saturday, with just eight players seeing time on the box score. Each of them contributed to the win, as four finished with double-digit kills, and another four totaled double-digit digs.

The attack was also set up by another 50-plus assist performance from Kenzie Carpenter, as the senior setter finished with 53.

Taylor MacCuish led Jessup in kills for the second match in a row, as she finished the day with 14. Eliana Sheridan kept up her hot play as of late with another double-double, chipping in 16 kills and 13 digs. Madalyn Miller contributed 14 kills, and Paulina Harris finished with 12.

Defensively, libero Neena Dimas led the team with 25 digs. Alexis Kepa added 13, and MacCuish finished with 11.

The Warriors rolled their way to an opening set victory of 25-13 and then kept the momentum going with a second set win of 25-16. Now eyes on a second straight sweep, FPU fought that off to keep the match alive, forcing a fourth set with a 26-24 victory.

Jessup would regroup and respond with a 25-22 win in the fourth to claim the match.

Saturday was the third meeting of the year between the Warriors and the Sunbirds, and after two unsuccessful tries, Jessup finally was able to get a win. FPU swept the Warriors in a non-conference meeting back in September, and then in Jessup's home opener, the Sunbirds claimed a 3-2 win inside Warrior Arena.

The Warriors will now make their way to Hawaii, as the trip begins with a visit to Hawaii Hilo on October 30. It will be a late night for fans on the mainland, as the match is scheduled for 10 p.m. (PST). Jessup will also see Chaminade (Nov. 1) and Hawaii Pacific (Nov. 2).
