Sorber Tied for Fourth After Day One in New Mexico

Michael Sorber posted the best round of the day; The tournament wraps up with 18 holes tomorrow

MESCALERO, N. M. – Freshman Michael Sorber stole the show on Monday, as day one of the RJGA South Central Shootout began with 36 holes. In a field of 52 players, Sorber enters day two, tied for fourth after he posted the best scorecard of the day in the second round.
 
Sorber began the day with a round of 74 (+2) in his opening 18 holes. He bounced back with his second round of the day, posting a score of 67 (-5) that was lower than the 51 other players in the field. Sorber's round included a stretch of four birdies in a row between holes nine and 12.
 
Traejan Andrews of Fort Lewis and Arnav Arkanath of Western New Mexico are tied for first at five-under.
 
Jessup has four other players in the field this week: Braden Armstrong (T27), Nicholas Schultz (T29), Jerah Venkaiya (T37), and Trevor Halloran (T42). As a team, the Warriors enter the final day in sixth place out of nine teams.

The RJGA South Central Shootout takes place from Inn of the Mountain Gods GC in New Mexico. Teams will return to the course on Tuesday for 18 more holes.
