Sunnyvale, CA – Jessup University's Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed against a strong field of NCAA and club runners at the Santa Clara University Bronco Invitational at Baylands Park on Friday, October 18. The Warriors were highlighted by a tremendous effort from freshman Angela Gladysh on the women's side, who placed in the top-ten.
The Warriors Women's Cross Country team posted a solid performance, finishing 10th overall in the 6K open race. Freshman Angela Gladysh led the charge for the Warriors, finishing an impressive 6th place overall with a time of 22:31.4. Her effort placed her among the top competitors and secured a strong start to the team's overall scoring. Following Gladysh, fellow freshman Juliet David finished next for Jessup, clocking in at 24:11.5, and Mary Stuart, another freshman, rounded out the top three scorers with a time of 25:17.6. Completing the Warrior squad were Addisyn Allen with a time of 29:43.6 and Kayla Carpenter finishing in 30:45.4.
Jessup Men's Cross Country team competed with a partial squad in the 8K open race, preventing them from registering a team score, but providing valuable racing experience for the runners.
Junior Travis Brown was the first Warrior across the line, completing the 8K course in 28:23.9. Senior Zachary Heberlein followed shortly after, recording a time of 28:43.2. Both runners competed well in a highly competitive field.
The Warriors will now look ahead to their final competitions of the regular season as they prepare for the PacWest Conference Championships on October 25th, in Waipahu, HI.
