ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Jessup University Women's Soccer team struggled to find a rhythm offensively, falling 0-2 to the visiting Dominican University of California Penguins on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Warrior Field. The non-conference defeat drops the Warriors' to seven overall losses on the season, 0-2 (1-7-3, 0-4-2 PacWest).
The first half was a tense defensive affair until Dominican broke the deadlock just past the quarter-hour mark. Penguins forward Megan Clapinski netted the opening goal at the 15:31 mark of the first period, assisted by Ysabella Belandres. The Warriors fought to find the equalizer, with midfielder Mandy Thao registering Jessup's only shot on goal for the entire contest, which was saved by Dominican goalkeeper Michelle Salas Viniegra.
In the second half, the Penguins sealed another goal off of a penalty kick just over 15 minutes into the half. Janae Schwan successfully converted the penalty kick at 60:41, extending the visitor's lead to 2-0. The Warriors continued to fight in the physical contest but ultimately, could not find the back of the net.
Warrior goalkeepers Celeste Fernandez and Mellanie Chernay split time in the net. Fernandez played the majority of the game (81:40 minutes) and recorded three saves against the Dominican attack.
Warriors women's soccer will remain home for their next matchup against Fresno Pacific on October, 24th. Kick-off will be at 2 PM.
