ROCKLIN, CA – The Jessup Warriors defeated the PacWest foes of Biola University Eagles in a non-conference dramatic four-set match (30-28, 26-24, 19-25, 25-22) at Warrior Arena. Jessup defeated the Eagles on pink day, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, game sponsored by Crumbl Cookie.
The win improves Jessup's overall record to 10-10 on the season.
Strong performances across the board propelled Jessup to victory. Eliana Sheridan led the Warriors' attack with a team-high 13 kills. Closely following in kills were Addie Hamilton with 12 and Kemyah Harris with 10. Harris, along with Sheridan and Julia Olson (8 kills), helped Jessup record a total of 52 kills for the match.
On defense, the Warriors were a force at the net, totaling four solo blocks and 23 block assists. Hamilton contributed with seven block assists, while Olson, Carpenter, and Harris each had multiple blocks. Jayden Santos led the team in digs with 10, followed by Sheridan with 8.
The Warriors showcased strong serving, with Lauren Toon leading the way with four aces.
The match was characterized by intense back-and-forth action, particularly in the first two sets. The Warriors came out on top in a high-scoring thriller, winning 30-28. This set saw the most contention, with 10 ties and six lead changes. Jessup took a crucial 2-0 lead in the match with a 26-24 victory.
Biola wasn't going down quietly, though, as the third set went in favor of the Eagles. Biola fought back to keep the match alive, taking the third set 25-19. Determined to close out the match, Jessup sealed the victory with a 25-22 fourth-set win, completing the 3-1 victory.
The Warriors will get a short break and return to home court on Thursday, October 30th, to face Menlo College at 7:00 PM.
