ROCKLIN, Calif. – Jessup University Men's Basketball program is excited to announce a special initiative to kick off the season: a Canned Food Drive that will be held in conjunction with their highly anticipated exhibition game on Tuesday, November 4th.
In a display of their commitment to service both on and off the court, the Warriors are urging fans and the Jessup community to bring non-perishable food items to the arena entrance before tip-off. The timing of the drive is intentional, designed to promote civic engagement on Election Day and embrace the spirit of giving just ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Head Coach Mark Darnall emphasized the importance of using the team's platform to serve the local community. "Being a Warrior means more than just competing on the floor; it means being a servant leader in our community," Darnall said. "November 4th is a critical day for civic responsibility, and what better way to show up than by supporting our neighbors. As we approach Thanksgiving, this food drive gives our student-athletes and our fans a direct opportunity to show gratitude through action."
All donations collected during the event will benefit the local Salvation Army, directly supporting families in Placer County who are facing food insecurity this holiday season. Fans are encouraged to bring shelf-stable goods such as canned meats, peanut butter, pasta, rice, and other non-perishable items.
"We are excited for the energy our exhibition game will bring, but we are even more thrilled to make a positive impact that lasts beyond the final buzzer," added Darnall. "We invite everyone, students, faculty, alumni, and local fans to join us in filling the barrels and strengthening our local Salvation Army's vital efforts."
The Men's Basketball Exhibition Game tips off at 7:30 PM Warrior Arena on Tuesday, November 4th. Doors will open early to accommodate donations.
