IRVINE, Calif. – October 7, 2025 – The Jessup Women's Soccer team faced a formidable challenge on Tuesday, October, 7th. The Warriors fell to the Concordia University Golden Eagles in a road contest at Golden Eagles Stadium, 0-1.
The Warriors (1-6-2 overall, 0-3-2 PacWest) were under heavy pressure throughout the match, but a standout performance from goalkeeper Celeste Fernandez kept the scoreline manageable. Fernandez registered ten total saves—four in the first half and six in the second—to hold off a relentless CUI attack that produced 24 shots on the day.
Jessup's defense was tested early and often. Concordia broke through in the 11th minute (11:48) when Bella Barret found the back of the net, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage early on.
The Warriors struggled to generate offensive momentum against the stout CUI defense, managing only one shot in the entire 90 minutes.
Despite the loss, the focus remains on the team's gritty defensive effort, spearheaded by Fernandez's impressive save tally.
Head Coach Amsalu Fantahub commented on the team's performance, "A great effort in a tough loss against a strong opponent. We're proud of the team's performance. Special shout out to our goalkeeper Celeste, who was instrumental in keeping the score close."
The Warriors next matchup will be on the road against Fresno Pacific University on Tuesday, October 14th. Kick-off will be at 5 PM.
