ATHERTON, Calif. – The Warriors kicked off their 2025-26 Women's Basketball season on Friday night at Haynes-Prim Pavilion, battling the San Francisco State Gators in a contest that ultimately finished 80-71 in favor of the Gators.
Despite the loss, Jessup showed tremendous heart, dominated inside, and demonstrated a promising offensive rhythm for the season ahead.
Jessup's high-efficiency offense was evident, as the Warriors shot an impressive 48.2% (27-56) from the field for the game. The team excelled in the paint, scoring 48 points compared to SF State's 30. The Warriors' bench also provided a massive lift, outscoring the Gators' reserves 29-25.
Guard Giselle Dogan contributed 15 points and was effective at the free-throw line, going 5-for-6 (83.3%). Claudia Jimenez also hit double-digits with 10 points, including the team's only three-pointer, and was perfect from the free-throw line (3-for-3).
After trailing 42-30 at halftime, the Warriors roared back in the second half. Jessup showed great determination, shooting 77.8% (7-9) in the third quarter and 36.8% (7-19) in the fourth, including their only made three-pointer.
Jessup's strongest offensive stretch was a 7-0 scoring run during the second quarter. The team finished the game outscoring the Gators 41-38 in the second half. Unfortunately, though, San Francisco outscored the Warriors and won the game in a final score of 80-71.
Jessup will continue their stint in Atherton in the CCAA/ PacWest Challenge to take on CSU Monterey Bay tomorrow at 4:00 PM.
