Brooms Come Out on Ring Day in Sacramento

Giles totaled six hits across the doubleheader; Jessup honored members of the 2024 NAIA World Series team

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The greatest team in Jessup history was honored on Saturday as one of many highlights on an overcast Sacramento afternoon. With the Chaminade series shifting to Foothill HS, the Jessup bats continued to stay hot as two wins led to a series sweep.

Jessup moved to 14-13 on the season with the sweep. They sit at 8-4 in PacWest play.

It was the Sarah Giles show in game one as the senior went 4-for-4 at the dish with a pair of runs and two RBI. Giles got the Warriors on the board in the bottom of the first when her single to left field plated Madisyn Leffle. The Warriors kept the pressure on Chaminade in the first, posting four runs with Kylie Nunes, Aaliyah Pineda, and Reagann Hoblit driving in runs.

Giles added the Warriors' fifth run of the game in the fifth with an RBI triple. Pineda then drove her home with her second sacrifice fly of the contest. The Warriors tacked on two more runs in the fifth, with Hoblit and Olivia Dominguez adding RBI singles.

Hoblit ended the game 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Bella MacFarlane picked up her seventh win of the season in the 9-2 finish. MacFarlane allowed two unearned runs in her four innings of work. Alexandria Himes logged three innings in relief, earning the save.

With one win in the books, attention was shifted to the past as the 2024 Warriors were honored with the presentation of their World Series rings. 18 of the 20 members of the 2024 roster were in attendance as a packed crowd celebrated the greatest postseason finish in Jessup history.

The jubilation carried into game two, starting in the first inning once again when a pair of World Series heroes put the Warriors on the board. Maddy Ybarra got the scoring started with an RBI triple to center field, and then Giles followed her up with her second triple of the day to plate Ybarra.

Nunes added a sac fly to score Giles, giving the Warriors a 3-1 lead.

Giles continued her stellar day in the second with an RBI double to left center. That came after Ybarra added an RBI single to right field.

Ybarra ended game two with a 3-for-4 showing at the dish. Giles finished 2-for-4.

Jazlyn Villavicencio earned the victory after five innings in the circle. Himes relieved her in the sixth as she logged two more innings in relief.

Next comes more changes to the schedule, as rain is in the forecast for the next 48 hours in Lincoln. Jessup's series with Hawaii Hilo, originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, will now begin on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Tuesday's games have been moved to American River College. A determination on Wednesday's site will be made on Monday.
