ROCKLIN, Calif. — Jessup University Athletics has announced a historic leadership transition as Brie Campbell steps down from her role as Head Softball Coach to assume full-time responsibilities as Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA).

After nearly a decade of balancing elite championship coaching with executive athletic administration, Campbell's transition closes one of the most successful coaching eras in Jessup history while positioning her to help lead the Warriors through the next chapter of growth in NCAA Division II athletics.

Campbell leaves the softball program as the winningest coach in the history of Jessup Athletics with 195 wins, having transformed the Warriors into a national contender and championship-caliber program during her seven seasons leading the team.

"Brie is the kind of coach who goes the extra mile — who gives 100 percent every single day and expects the same from those she leads," said Jessup Athletic Director Scott Sorgea. "She leaves it all on the field, modeling the work ethic, discipline, and commitment that define excellence."

Since taking over the program ahead of the 2020 season, Campbell guided Jessup Softball through an unprecedented era of achievement that spanned both the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels.

Her crowning accomplishment came during the spring of 2025 when the Warriors captured the program's first-ever national championship, winning the NCCAA National Championship in dominant fashion. Jessup posted a perfect 5-0 record during the tournament in Grapevine, Texas, culminating with a title-clinching victory over Mid-America Christian University.

Just one season earlier, Campbell led the 2024 Warriors to a historic 44-win campaign and an appearance in the NAIA Softball World Series National Championship Game, marking the highest national finish by any athletic program in Jessup history.

Even amid the university's transition into NCAA Division II and the highly competitive PacWest Conference, the Warriors continued to thrive under Campbell's leadership. In Jessup's inaugural PacWest campaign in 2025, the team posted a 24-12 conference record and finished 37-21 overall. In her final season in 2026, Campbell again guided the Warriors into postseason play, leading Jessup to its first-ever PacWest Championship appearances across all sports.

Her teams also captured three Golden State Athletic Conference championships, including conference regular-season and tournament titles, while consistently establishing Jessup as one of the premier softball programs on the West Coast.
Campbell's influence extended far beyond the win-loss column.

Over the course of her tenure, she coached dozens of highly decorated student-athletes, including 37 Scholar-Athletes, more than 20 All-Conference selections, 14 NFCA All-Region honorees, and three NFCA All-Americans. Her players earned some of the sport's top individual honors, including 2024 NAIA National Player of the Year Sarah Giles and 2025 PacWest Player of the Year Maddy Ybarra.

For her accomplishments, Campbell was named the 2025 NCCAA National Coach of the Year and twice earned GSAC Coach of the Year honors.

Beyond the dugout, Campbell simultaneously built an impressive administrative résumé within Jessup Athletics. Since arriving in Rocklin in 2016 as Sports Information Director, she steadily advanced into senior leadership roles, including Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and later Senior Woman Administrator.

Throughout Jessup's transition into NCAA Division II, Campbell played a vital role in athletic compliance, governance, branding, and departmental restructuring. She also served nationally as the NAIA Regional Chair for the GSAC Softball Committee and as an official National Regional Rankings voter.

In her expanded executive role, Campbell will focus full-time on athletic department governance, including Title IX compliance, scholarship management, budgeting, personnel oversight, and enhancing the overall student-athlete experience. She will continue executive sport supervision for several Jessup programs, including Men's and Women's Soccer, Cross Country, Sideline Cheer, and STUNT.

Sorgea emphasized that Campbell's impact on Jessup Athletics reaches well beyond championships and accolades.

"Brie is more than a coach — she is a mentor, a role model, and a trusted presence in the lives of her student-athletes," Sorgea said. "She builds people, not just teams, focusing on character, personal growth, and long-term development. Her players know they are valued not just for what they do, but for who they are."

He added, "Coach Campbell invests countless hours into her program, often sacrificing personal time, because she believes deeply in the mission of developing young women of character and confidence."

As Campbell transitions into her full-time executive leadership role, she leaves behind a transformational legacy that forever changed Jessup Softball and elevated the profile of Warriors athletics on the national stage.
For Jessup University Athletics, her next chapter may ultimately prove just as impactful as the historic one she leaves behind on the diamond.

"Stepping away from the dugout is bittersweet, but I am filled with overwhelming gratitude for this next chapter," said Campbell. "I want to deeply thank our leadership, from Lance Von Vogt, who believed in me and brought me to Rocklin a decade ago, to Scott Sorgea and our administration today for continuing to entrust me with this responsibility to continue to serve Jessup Athletics as a whole. This historic run was never a solo effort; it belongs to the incredible assistant coaches who were an integral part of our program's success and poured their hearts into this team daily.

Through every high and low, I anchored myself in trusting God with His calling, and I am so grateful to the players who bought into that process, trusted our vision, and gave everything to this program. While my role is changing, my commitment to the mission of Jessup hasn't wavered. I am incredibly excited for the future of Warrior athletics and honored to serve our coaches and student-athletes from the administrative side now in a full-time capacity."
