ROCKLIN, Calif. – Jessup Tennis made its return to Rocklin on Saturday, following two matches in Southern California to begin the week. With Biola in town, the day went in favor of the Eagles, as the visiting side left Northern California with two wins on Jessup's turf.
The men's match saw the Warriors claim one point in singles action, coming via
Clark Chen, who improved to 1-2 in the season. Chen lost the first set, 1-6, but battled back to take the next two and secure a point for his side.
Biola claimed the other five points in singles play, all in straight sets. They won two matches in doubles action, with the third match going unfinished. The duo of
Henrique Levy and
Diego Rodriguez were on the court for the unfinished bout.
Women's action saw Biola sweep to a 7-0 win. They began with two wins in doubles play, with
Nia Macay and
Briana Smith's match going unfinished. The Eagles followed that up with a 6-0 sweep in singles action.
Rylie Maloney pushed her match to a third set, but a 10-8 finish in the third secured the point for Biola.
Both programs will return to action next week against Westmont, with both matches being on different dates and in different cities. The women's side will take on Westmont in Turlock on Thursday, and then Westmont will come to Rocklin for men's action on Friday.
