STANISLAUS, Calif. – A late addition to the schedule saw the Warriors travel to Turlock this week as one final tune-up before the PacWest Championship awaited Jessup. Competing in the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, Jessup finished strong to give them momentum heading into Las Vegas.

The Warriors were one of 15 teams in the field this week. Jessup finished 11th as a team. CSU Monterey Bay claimed the team championship with a two-stroke advantage over Chico State.

David Sibbett of Western Washington was the individual champion.

Freshman
Michael Sorber led the way for the Warriors this week. Sorber opened the tournament with a strong showing of even par in the first round, but he topped that with his second scorecard of 69 (-3). Sorber continued to make improvements on Tuesday as a final round of 67 (-5) pushed him into third place.

Sorber finished four shots off the leader.

The final round was the best of the week for the Warriors. All five of Jessup's scorecards came in under 77.
Jerah Venkaiya (T39) and
Braden Armstrong (T55) each turned in cards of 73 (+1).
Nicholas Schultz (T65) shot 75 (+3), and
Paolo Castaneda (T65) posted 76 (+4) to end the week.

Jessup was one of four PacWest teams in the field. Academy of Art led all of the PacWest teams. Vanguard and Dominican were also in the field.

The Warriors will see the full list of PacWest golf programs in one week as they head to Las Vegas for the conference championship. The two-day event begins on April 21 from Aliante Golf Club.
