FRESNO, Calif. – The first PacWest Championship in the history of Jessup Track & Field got underway on Friday. Highlighting the day were two new Jessup records, along with the first All-PacWest finish in program history.

Thrower
Julia Pisenti is the first Jessup athlete to make the podium at the PacWest Championship. Pisenti opened the meet with a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 41.44m. She will be back in action Saturday in the shot put and discus.

A school record was set in the long jump by
Chris Hackney. Hackney competed in three events on Friday, and his mark of 6.44m in the long jump is now the best in program history. He also added a lifetime PR in the 400m, moving him to fourth in program history, along with a PR in the 200m.

Hackney is second in program history in the 200m and will run in the finals on Saturday.

The second record of the day came in the 100m prelim as sprinter
Gianni Miles broke his record once again. Miles placed first in the prelim with a record-setting time of 10.37. He will race for a championship on Saturday.

More highlights came from
Laurence Mitchell-Patterson who set PRs in the 100m and 200m. Both times put him in the top ten in school history.
Jeremiah Price set a PR in the 400m hurdles, moving him to second in school history. A PR also came in the 10k as
Cheyenne Ullrich bested her lifetime PR by eight seconds in the event.

The throwing events saw a PR from
Justin Heckman in the hammer.
Derek Brown set a PR in the javelin.
