ROCKLIN, Calif. – Jessup baseball's Jayden Montero was honored as the PacWest Player of the Week for batting .600 with 5 RBIs as the Warriors won three of four against Vanguard. 

The Warriors opened conference play at Historic McBean Park over the weekend as Jessup scored 43 runs in four games to take the series against the Lions. Jayden Montero was an integral part of the Warriors offensive success as he contributed five RBIs and scored four runs throughout the series. 

In game one of the series, the freshman had a quiet but productive day at the plate as he smacked a hit for two RBIs and reached on a walk. It was game two where he plated a third of the Warriors runs with three RBIs, scored once and went 2-3. For the explosive game three where Jessup scored 21 times, the second baseman was perfect with a 3-3 day, knocked in two RBIs and came in to score twice. On the weekend, Montero finished the four game series 6-10, drove in five runs and scored four times with an extra base hit. 

Head Coach Trevor Paine commented on the freshman's recognition, "Really proud of Jayden and the hard work he's put in offensively. His offense can get overlooked by how good of a defender he is but he controls the bat really well and has earned the success he had this week. He is more than deserving of being named the PacWest Player of the Week." 

Montero and Jessup baseball are slated for their next series on Wednesday, February 18th at McBean Park. The team will host Hawaii-Hilo in a double header starting at 12:00 PM.
