ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Jessup women's tennis (0-1, 0-1 PacWest) opened the season at home on Friday, February 6th against Dominican (1-0, 1-0 PacWest) at Johnson Ranch Sports Club, 7-0.
The Warriors welcomed the Penguins to Roseville to begin the 2026 regular season and PacWest conference play for both sides. To open the day, Maria Antonella Davila and Rylie Maloney fought for momentum in doubles No. 1 but ultimately fell. Briana Smith and Giselli Reschke competed in doublesNo. 2 but were outpaced. The Warriors dropped their doubles #3 with a forfeit.
Transitioning into singles play, No. 1, Smith dropped her matchup 6-2 and 6-2. Reschke competed in No. 2 and Maloney in No. 3 both dropped their meetings. Danielle Akabane fell in her #4 singles meeting and Maria Antonella Davila dropped her #5 singles. Jessup forfeited in their No. 6 singles and lost their first match of the season to the Dominican Penguins.
The Warriors will have a quick turnaround as they look to bounce back tomorrow. Jessup is scheduled to travel to Turlock for a showdown with Stanislaus State. First serve is set for Saturday afternoon.
