ATHERTON, Calif. — The Warriors hit the road early this morning for a trip to the Bay Area for a Friday afternoon doubleheader against the Menlo Oaks. The PacWest matchup concluded with the teams splitting the two-game series.
The result moves the Warriors to 11-9 in conference play.
Menlo took game one with a final score of 7-3. The hosting Oaks jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning. They continued to tally runs across the board with one in the third and a four-run fourth inning to extend their lead to 7-0.
Jessup attempted a late-game comeback, bringing one runner across in the fifth and adding two runs in the seventh, but the early deficit proved too large. The Oaks secured the opening victory, 7-3.
The Warriors refused to go quietly in game two, defeating Menlo 6-2 to force the afternoon split. In a reversal of game one, Jessup applied pressure early by scoring two runs in the opening frame.
Aaliyah Tinoco continued her hot streak at the plate with a solo blast to dead center in the third inning, bringing the score to 3-0. The bats remained alive in the fourth inning as the Warriors extended their lead behind an RBI single from Alexis Vega (2-for-4), an RBI double from Maliyah Lawson, and a sacrifice fly from Maddy Ybarra (2-for-3). Senior Neva Adams also had a productive day at the plate, going 2-for-3.
The Warriors closed out the second game with a final score of 6-2. Menlo will soon make their way to Lincoln, California to conclude the remainder of the series on April 4th.Â
Jessup returns to its home turf on Friday, March 27, for a showdown against San Francisco State University. The doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM.
