ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Jessup women's tennis team returned to the courts at Johnson Ranch Sports Club North on Friday morning, dropping a 7-0 decision in a non-conference matchup against visiting Weber State University.

Holding an immediate advantage due to a short roster for Jessup, Weber State secured the opening doubles point by sweeping the two contested flights. The Wildcats' top duo captured a 6-2 win over Jessup's No. 1 pairing of Briana Smith and Giselli Reschke. On court two, Weber State claimed a 6-0 victory over the Warriors' tandem of Rylie Maloney and Danielle Akabane.

Transitioning to singles play with a lead in hand, the Wildcats maintained their momentum to complete the sweep on the remaining four courts.

At the top flight, Smith was bested in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. On court two, Reschke fell by a score of 6-3, 6-1, while Akabane dropped her No. 4 singles match, 6-0, 6-0.

The most competitive action of the day for the Warriors came on court three, where Maloney showcased impressive grit. After dropping the opening set 6-0, Maloney found her rhythm and turned the second set into a grinding, back-and-forth battle. She traded games deep into the set against her opponent before ultimately falling just short in a hard-fought 6-4 decision to close out the morning.

The Warriors will remain home for their next PacWest conference meeting against Westmont on April 2nd. The game in Roseville will begin at 11:00 AM.
