Warriors Sweep Gators in Walk-Off Fashion

LINCOLN, Calif. — The Warriors brought out the brooms Friday afternoon at Foskett Regional Park, hosting the Gators of San Francisco State University for a non-conference matchup. The offense propelled Jessup to a 9-3 victory in game one before a thrilling ninth-inning walk-off in game two secured the 7-6 doubleheader sweep.

Head coach Brie Campbell commented on her team's sweep: "Our mindset today was strictly 'one game at a time.' We entered with the clear goal of taking Game 1, and I was proud to see the team execute that ambition. The 'pass the bat' mentality kept the scoreboard moving consistently, and while we missed a few opportunities to break it open, those are the growth moments we need."

Taking a brief break from PacWest conference play, the Warriors collected 11 hits and nine runs to claim the opener.Game one starter Evangelina Chavarria threw a complete game to earn her fourth win of the season (4-2).

"Ang showed incredible resolve—after a shaky start, her determination to settle in and minimize damage gave us the stability to win," Campbell said of her game one starter.

Leading 4-2 heading into the late innings, Jessup broke the game open with a five-run fifth. The surge began with an RBI double from senior Neva Adams, followed moments later by an RBI single from right fielder Maliyah Lawson.

Adams finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Lawson went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Rebeckah Beasley and Maddy Ybarra also put up impressive numbers; Beasley went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, while Ybarra went 2-for-3 with a walk and one RBI.

Nohemi Livingston took the circle for game two, tossing all nine innings of the marathon contest. With the win,Livingston moves to 7-7 in her debut PacWest season.

Ybarra's hot bat ignited the scoring early with her fourth triple of the season, driving in Lawson to put the Warriors ahead. However, the Gators responded in the second and third innings, scoring three runs to take the lead.

Freshman Kaiya Miller sparked the dugout in the fourth with a clutch, go-ahead double that cleared the bases, pulling Jessup ahead 4-3. The Gators again rallied to regain the lead, but Aaliyah Tinoco answered with a shot up the middle to bring home two more runs, making it 6-5.

The two squads remained locked in a stalemate through regulation, forcing the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded, Neva Adams put pressure on the defense with a high-chopping "slap" hit. Her speed down the line forced a throwing error by the shortstop, allowing Ybarra to cross the plate and seal the 7-6 victory.

"In Game 2, our defense was absolutely nails. Even when we fell behind and left runners on base, the group refused to let those missed chances dictate the outcome. They kept fighting until the final out," Campbell concluded. "Tomorrow is another new day and an important day for us to take this momentum into the doubleheader at Dominican, as the standings are anyone's for postseason berths."

The Warriors return to PacWest play tomorrow in San Rafael for a doubleheader against the Penguins of Dominican University at 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM.
