Warriors Drop PacWest Doubleheader to Biola

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Jessup Warriors and the Biola University Eagles squared off for the opening doubleheader of the weekend. Despite battling lightning and rain delays, both games were completed; however, Biola took both contests with scores of 5–4 and 8–0.

Jessup currently sits in fourth place in the PacWest standings as the race for the postseason intensifies. The Warriors now hold a 15–11 record in conference play.

The opener was a back-and-forth affair that went down to the wire. Jessup took an early 1–0 lead in the first inning, but Biola responded with a three-run surge in the second.

Trailing 4–3 in the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded, senior Kylie Nunes delivered a clutch RBI single to left field, tying the game at 4–4. However, the Eagles managed to scratch across a run in the top of the seventh to regain a 5–4 lead. The Warriors were unable to answer in the final frame, handing the win to the visitors.

Biola found their power stroke in the nightcap, launching three home runs against the Warrior pitching staff. The Eagles tallied two solo shots in the second inning before breaking the game open with a grand slam in the fifth. The offensive outburst triggered the mercy rule, ending the contest early with an 8–0 Biola victory.

Jessup returns to action tomorrow against Biola, looking to earn a series split. The games will be held at American River College, with first pitches scheduled for 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
