LINCOLN, CA — Saturday was packed with softball at Foskett Regional Park as the Warriors hosted the Menlo College Oaks to complete their PacWest series. The Warriors defeated the Oaks in both games of the doubleheader, winning 6-4 and 8-2. The Saturday sweep secured the series victory for Jessup, who took three out of four games from Menlo.
These wins move Jessup to 15-9 in conference play, keeping them in third place as the heart of the season begins to wind down. The two teams previously met in Atherton in late March for the first two games of the series, where they earned a split. The Warriors brought that momentum back to Lincoln today to finalize the matchup.
Evangelina Chavarria got the start in the circle for the Warriors and ignited the scoring herself with an RBI single to spark the Jessup dugout. The Oaks eventually took a 2-1 lead that held until the late innings. With the bases loaded for the Warriors, senior Neva Adams used her speed and discipline at the plate to force a run across with an RBI single to tie the game.
Follow-up hits from Maliyah Lawson, Rebekah Beasley, and Chavarria produced additional RBIs, putting immense pressure on the Oaks' pitching staff and pushing the Jessup lead to 5-2. While Menlo found a late spark, it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit, and the Warriors sealed game one with a 6-4 victory. Chavarria pitched six innings and went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Lawson finished 2-for-3, followed by Reagann Hoblit, who was a perfect 2-for-2.
The bats truly came alive in game two as Jessup put eight runs on the board. Starting pitcher Nohemi Livingston tossed a complete seven-inning game to earn her ninth win of the season. Livingston relied on a "lights out" defense to hold the Oaks to just two runs, completing the daily sweep and the series win. Hoblit and Lawson each collected two RBIs in the nightcap, while Adams went 2-for-3 to continue her productive day at the dish.
Jessup will hit the road for a non-conference matchup with the Monterey Bay on April 7th for a double header beginning at 1:00 PM Â
