ROCKLIN, Calif. - Jessup women's golf junior Jessica Burdick has been named the PacWest Player of the Week following a spectacular run at the Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Arizona.
Competing against a massive and talented field of 142 golfers at the tournament hosted by Western New Mexico, the Rocklin native landed near the top of the leaderboard. Burdick finished the two-day, 36-hole event in sole possession of third place, shooting a highly impressive one-under-par overall and finishing just four strokes shy of the individual title.
After opening the tournament with a solid round of 74 on Monday, Burdick found another gear on Tuesday. She mounted a fierce charge up the standings, delivering a sizzling second round and carding a 69 the second-best score of the entire field for round two.
Her dominant final round was fueled by aggressive and precise shot-making. Burdick caught fire during the final 18 holes, racking up four birdies and sinking a massive eagle to secure her spot on the podium and apply pressure to the tournament leaders.
This marks her second PacWest Player of the Week recognition, further cementing her status as a cornerstone of the Warriors' golf program. Her ability to navigate a deep, 142-player field and post low numbers under pressure continues to be a driving force for Jessup this season.Â
Burdick and Jessup women's golf will have their final conference appearance on April 20th-22nd at the PacWest Championships.Â
