FRESNO, Calif. — The Jessup University women's volleyball team concluded its Saturday doubleheader at the Special Events Center in Fresno, California, dropping a pair of non-conference matches against Menlo College and Stanislaus State.
In the morning opener against Menlo, the Warriors struck first by taking a competitive opening set 25-22. Jessup's offense clicked early, putting up 12 kills on a .321 hitting percentage during the frame. However, Menlo adjusted over the next three sets, capturing 25-13, 25-20, and 25-23 victories to claim the 3-1 match win. Offensively,
Jenna Kraft paced the Warriors in the first match with nine kills and nine digs, while
Jayden Jones contributed eight kills and 10 digs. Middle blocker
August Stys added six kills while participating in a defensive front that posted seven total team blocks, including six block assists from
Mia Rivera. The setting duties were evenly split, as Kjersti Jacobson and
Khaycee Jamias-Cadenas recorded 16 assists apiece. Defender Lillian Smith led the backline with 19 digs.
Returning to the court for the afternoon match, Jessup faced a formidable attack from Stanislaus State, falling in straight sets 25-16, 25-16, and 25-20. The Warriors struggled to establish an offensive rhythm, finishing with 20 total kills and a .022 team hitting percentage against Stanislaus State's efficient .319 mark.

Jenna Kraft led Jessup's attack with four kills each. Jamias-Cadenas and Jacobson again orchestrated the offense, both dishing out seven assists. On defense, Jacobson collected a team-high eight digs, followed closely by Smith with six. Stanislaus State's Lauren Gonzales led all players with 10 kills on a .467 attack percentage alongside 12 digs.
"While the results today weren't what we wanted, these early non-conference matches give us valuable film and clear areas to grow," said Head Coach Taylor Jacky. "We showed great fight early on against Menlo, but we need to stay disciplined and maintain our execution as matches progress. Our focus now shifts to going back to work this week, refining our defense, and getting ready for another tough tournament slate."
Following Saturday's results, Jessup moves to 1-3 overall on the season. The Warriors will travel to Arcata, California, next weekend for the Redwood Coast Volleyball Classic, opening tournament play on Friday, September 4, against Rollins College and Dominican University.
