GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Jessup University women's golf team closed out the 2026 Women's Shootout at Estrella tied for 12th place, carding a two-round total of 633 (317-316) at the Golf Club of Estrella. The Warriors shaved a stroke off their opening-round total on day two, finishing the 16-team field at +57 alongside Texas A&M-Kingsville. Cal State San Marcos took the team title at -3 (573), edging Cal State LA (+1, 577) for the win, while Point Loma rounded out the top three at +11.
Jessup opened the tournament with a 317 on Sunday and trimmed that down to 316 in the final round — modest progress, but progress nonetheless, in a field where several teams saw their scores balloon on day two, including Chico State, which jumped from 307 to 319, and Angelo State, which climbed from 305 to 315. The Warriors were one of just a handful of teams to shave strokes off their total between rounds, a sign of some late-tournament stability even as the team's overall position held steady at T12.
Individually,
Julianne Canda was Jessup's most consistent golfer across both days, carding a 77 in the opening round before backing it up with a 78 on Monday to finish T35 at +11, the Warriors' top finisher by a wide margin.
Ally Bettencourt delivered the tournament's biggest turnaround for Jessup, following an opening 85 with a sharp 76 in the final round — a nine-shot improvement that moved her into a T64 tie at +17.
Priscilla Padilla posted the low round of the tournament for the Warriors, firing a 73 in round one before a tougher final round of 84 settled her into a T46 finish at +13, still the second-best cumulative score on the team.
Natalie Ang (82-80, T68, +18) and Callie McLoughlin (85-82, T78, +23) rounded out Jessup's counting scores, with both golfers trimming strokes off their opening rounds on day two.
Head coach
Seth Heppner saw plenty to build on in the team's season opener. "It was fun to get back out and competing again. In the short time we've been together now, the ladies have jelled well," Heppner said. "Very proud of these ladies, this was a battle in the heat and they learned a lot this week both on the golf side and about themselves. The first tournament jitters showed a bit, which was expected, but we bounced back nicely in the second round. Fun start to the season and excited to see what this team can do."
With the fall slate underway, the Warriors will look to build on this week's showing as they continue preparing for the heart of the PacWest schedule.
