ROCKLIN, Calif. - It was another rough outing for the Jessup women's soccer team at Warrior Field on Monday as they trailed early and were unable to score in a 4-0 loss to Menlo.
From the kickoff, the Oaks were attacking and managed to capitalize in the second minute when freshman Leilani Phillips got Menlo on the board off of an assist from Jacky Vasquez Lopez. Just over 15 minutes later, Vasquez Lopez got on the score sheet herself, slotting it home down the center. The attacking pressure continued as junior Ashley Nicole Dio Rabara converted in the 26th minute before fellow junior Nelzy Dominguez made it 4-0 in the 33rd minute to take a huge lead into the halftime break.Â
After managing just one shot in the first half, Jessup got more opportunities in the final 45 minutes with their best chance coming in the 56th minute when a potential goal from
Kaylee Fore was ruled offside. Still, the Warriors amassed four shots in the second half with two on target, both from sophomore
Kylie Gutierrez.
Karlee Lywandowsky,
Mikayla Olariu and
Mackenzie Wright also had shots during Monday's game. Menlo goalkeeper Caroline Cordes and Jessup's
Tyler Boren each totaled one save in the contest.Â
There were two cautions, both on Menlo with Tae Detwiler being booked in the 66th minute and Cassidy Campbell receiving a yellow card in the 88th minute.Â
The Warriors will be back in action on Saturday on the road against CSU Monterey Bay and will return home next Monday to face UC Merced.
