Head coach Mark Darnall added John Balwigaire to the coaching staff in the summer of 2023. Balwigaire makes the jump to Rocklin after holding a spot on the bench of one of Jessup’s conference rivals, Menlo College.

On top of his work assisting Darnall, Balwigaire also leads the Jessup JV program as head coach.

Balwigaire brings a detailed basketball resume with him, as he played professionally in Uganda. His time in Uganda saw him play for City Oil, the most successful team in the NBL. He also served as a mentor for members of the club’s junior team.

In 2015, Balwigaire was named the FIBA Zone 5 Most Outstanding Player while playing for the Ugandan National Team. On the court he helped his team qualify for their first-ever Afro-Basket Tournament.

Balwigaire played college basketball at Wright State University, where he earned his degree in Organizational Leadership in 2015. He later added a Master’s Degree in Coaching and Sports Information from Concordia-Irvine.
