Michael Allen officially joined the Jessup Men’s Basketball coaching staff prior to the 2020-21 season. A seasoned coaching veteran, Allen brings nearly 30 years of experience to the Warriors.
Most recently, as the head women’s basketball coach at DeAnza College, Allen was named Coast Conference Coach of the Year while leading his team to a conference championship.
Allen is a familiar face to the Jessup basketball program, having played for the Warriors as a student at San Jose Christian College. A standout on the court, Allen was a member of three NBCAA National Championships.
"God always has a plan and bringing (Allen) back home to Jessup as an assistant basketball coach is something that will have a great impact on our student-athletes, program, and university," Jessup Athletic Director and head men’s basketball coach Lance Von Vogt said of Allen.
Individually as an athlete, Allen recorded over 2,500 points and 700 rebounds during his collegiate career. During that time, Allen was named a three-time All-American.
Allen is currently continuing his education at Jessup as he is in the finishing stages of an M. A. in Sports Management. Already holding a B. S. in Bible & Theology / Youth Ministry, Allen was voted Student Body President as an undergraduate student.
"Coming home to Jessup means the world to me," says Allen. "It's a true blessing to have been given the opportunity to bring my experience as a player, trainer, and coach to an amazing group of young men."
