Mike Mazzoni joined the Warriors as an Assistant Coach ahead of the 2020 season. A familiar face to the Jessup community, Mazzoni was a member of the men’s soccer team from 2012 – 2016.
Playing in the midfield, Mazzoni was a four-year starter and three-time captain during his time at Jessup. Mazzoni was named to the All-GSAC team in his final season, making him one of the conference’s best.
In his senior season, Mazzoni recorded 16 points, including four goals and eight assists. His best individual performance came against UC Merced in 2016, when he registered a career-high three assists. Mazzoni’s career average of 0.31 assists per game is a Jessup Men’s Soccer record.
A homegrown product, Mazzoni starred on the soccer field for the Thunder at nearby Rocklin High School. After his time as a collegiate athlete ended, Mazzoni stayed close to the game, returning to his alma mater to assist RHS’ varsity and JV soccer teams from 2016 – 2020. Mazzoni currently coaches at the club level as well with Granite Bay FC.
Having graduated from Jessup in 2017, Mazzoni says he wants to help bring a championship culture to the Warrior program. “I hope to help create a competitive environment that carries out a championship culture and a motivation to succeed on and off the field.”
Mazzoni added that his biggest motivation for coaching at Jessup was to give back to the program that gave him so much as a player.
