David Nolan was officially announced as the Head Coach for Jessup Women’s Soccer in the summer of 2020 after spending the previous seven years at an NCAA Division III soccer powerhouse. In just two years in charge of the Warriors, Nolan has taken the program to new heights, bolstering a record of 11-14-4 in the process.
Nolan notes that, "Coming in as a new coach and having the opportunity to work with the ladies during the fall has given us a chance to get to know each other on and off the field.” He went on to say, “We have shown growth during this fall semester and the chance to be able to coach and see the team in a game environment is very exciting."
- Nolan earned his first victory with the Warriors on February 19, 2021, as Jessup shutout Simpson University 4-0. Year one under Nolan saw the Warriors finish 2-9-1. At the end of the season, Madison Leonhardt and Sarah Foulk were recognized as All-GSAC team members, highlighting the first year of Nolan's tenure.
- Year two under Nolan was a historic one for the program, as after a winning season of 9-5-3, the Warriors clinched their first ever trip to the GSAC Tournament. Along the way, Jessup pieced together an 11-match unbeaten streak in which they outscored opponents 31-8. Kaylee Gillespie and Lauren Case were named to the All-GSAC team, while Gillespie also took home Freshman of the Year honors.
Coaching Experience
Prior to joining the Jessup soccer staff, Nolan served as the associate head coach for Pomona-Pitzer in Pomona, CA. In what was his final season coaching the Sagehen, Nolan helped lead his team to a Final Four appearance in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
Beginning his time at Pomona-Pitzer in 2013, it didn’t take long for the results of his coaching to manifest as the team made back-to-back post season appearances. Over the next two seasons the Sagehen made tremendous strides as they made the national tournament in each year.
In 2016, with the help of Nolan leading his team, the Sagehen set a program record with 20 wins. The 20-win season was good enough for the program’s highest winning percentage of .875 as well as their most SCIAC wins with 12.
Furthermore, that Pomona-Pitzer team was able to post their top marker for shutouts in a season with 20 while making their first appearance in the Final Four.
In addition to his near decade of coaching experience, Nolan also holds a USSF A License for coaching.
