ROCKLIN, Calif. – William Jessup University developed early leads during their second conference game on the road in as many days, but The Master's College was successful in playing from behind and defeated the Warriors in three games (17-25, 19-25, 19-25).
The Warrior showed some sluggishness out of the gate falling to a five-point deficit kicking off the match. The Master's would cruise with the lead to take the Warriors 17-25.
Set two was different. The Warriors came out pounding the ball across the net until The Master's was forced to call a regrouping time-out down 7-3 after Jennah Richmond (Napa, CA) sniped two aces in a row. The time-out adjustments were the correct ones and the remainder of the set belonged to the team out of Santa Clarita.
The third set resembled the second. Once more the Warriors came out with a furry, earning an early lead of 9-4. Once more The Master's adjusted and recovered using a 9-0 run to take back a comfortable lead; one they would hold and use to close out the match in three sets.
Carlie Mills (Scottsdale, AZ) led the Warriors offensively with seven kills, most of them coming from assists by sophomore Kylee Thompson (Gilbert, AZ) who helped the team with 24 assists in total.
The Warriors will get to play their home conference opener next Friday, September 18 when they host the number one ranked team in the form of the Biola Eagles with play starting at 5:00 PM.
