Offensive Battle Ends With Warriors Taking a 7-6 Loss

Adolfo Guzman Nets a Hat Trick, Jessup Allows Six Second Half Goals in Route to Defeat

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Coming off their first home loss of the season on Thursday, Jessup looked to get back in the win column and pick up three points in the GSAC standings as they hosted San Diego Christian College. The Warriors scored a season high six goals on Saturday, but the Hawks were able to do one better by adding a late goal to steal a 7-6 victory.

Sophomore Adolfo Guzman (Las Vegas, CA) had a great performance on Saturday, as the forward netted a hat trick of goals to push his season total to six on the year. Guzman's first two goals were set up by assists from senior Michael Mazzoni (Rocklin, CA). The third goal was assisted by sophomore Christian Guzman (Sheridan, CA) as an acrobatic flip throw in sent the ball into the box for a headed attempt.

For the Hawks, Borja Suarez turned in one of the best performances the GSAC has seen all year. Suarez scored his first goal of the day in the 41st minute on a penalty, and he would not stop there as he would score four more in route to an incredible five goal day.

Jessup was awarded two penalty attempts of their own, one in the 54th minute and the other coming late in the 80th minute. Senior Jacob Rodriguez took both of the penalties, and converted on both to finish with two goals, pushing him to seven on the year.

Senior Jose Hernandez (Ukiah, CA) returned to the pitch on Saturday after missing the last two matches due to injury. Hernandez scored his team high ninth goal in the 75th minute, off an assist from Christian Guzman.

The Warriors had a 6-5 lead late after Rodriguez's second penalty goal, but it was Suarez who scored his second penalty goal of the day in the 83rd minute to even the score at 6-6. With just over two minutes left in the match, Suarez curled in a free kick from 19 yards out to give his side the decisive 7- 6 advantage.

Jessup's record falls to 7-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in GSAC play this season. The Warriors won 7 points in the conference standings. The season continues on Thursday as the Warriors will be in Santa Barbara to take on The Master's University.
