Lady Warriors Earn a Point with 0-0 Draw against Masters

Evans Keeps Mustangs Scoreless for 110-Minutes, Jessup Earns First GSAC Point of the Year

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Continuing with the conference season on Saturday, the William Jessup University Lady Warriors played host to The Masters University on Saturday. Both teams put on a strong defensive effort, as neither team was able to find the goal, resulting in a 0-0 draw after 110-minutes.

"Today we walked off the field after 110-minutes of battle with our heads very high," said head coach Rachel Constantini after the match. "The Masters put up an excellent fight, but our girls played with heart, passion, and I couldn't be more proud. We would have liked to walk away with a win, but every game these girls work harder than the one previous."

Senior Brianna Evans (Roseville, CA) got the start in goal for Jessup, and she played the entire match, totaling 110-minutes of field time. Evans did not allow a goal, and recorded 8 saves in route to keeping her team even.

Masters had a chance to get a goal on the board in the overtime frame, as a Mustang shot was rocketed off the crossbar and bounced down on the goal line, but Evans was able to dive on the ball to stop the potential game winning goal from coming in.

Offensively, Jessup was able to get off a total of 6 shots in the draw, with just two coming on frame. Sophomore Yvette Perez (Santa Rosa, CA) and senior Lauren Roseboro (Tracy, CA) had the lone shots on goal for Jessup Saturday.

"At the beginning of the year all we asked of them was to work hard both mentally and physically," added Constantini on her team. "We are finally reaping the rewards of doing so."

With the draw, Jessup's first of the 2016 campaign, the Warriors' record on the season moves to 4-7-1 overall. In conference play, Jessup sits at 0-3-1 with just one point in the current Golden State Athletic Conference standings.

The Warriors will get back on the pitch on Thursday, October 13, as they will play host to Vanguard University at 12:30 p.m. Vanguard defeated Jessup 5-0 in Costa Mesa back on September 24.
