ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Warrior women's volleyball team hit the road for their final SoCal match at Vanguard University on Saturday. With a game-high 16 kills in the second set, Jessup was able to tie it up 1-1 but lost back-to-back sets to fall to the Lions 3-1 (11-25, 25-23, 10-25, 18-25).
"Vanguard is a very well coached team. They have a strong offensive system that they have built over the years," head coach
Shasta Millhollin commented. "It's always tough to play on the road, and we knew this match would be a battle."
Offensively senior
Jennah Richmond and sophomore
Makenzie Reeder-Esparza had another double-digit performance piggybacking their 11 kills against the Banana Slugs to record the same amount against the Lions. Freshman
Taylor Jacky added 9 on the night with 38 assists coming from
Jessica Williams.
"
Makenzie Reeder-Esparza and
Jennah Richmond both had 11 kills a piece to keep us in the match. We have been working on creating opportunities to score offensively and continued to learn more tonight," said Millhollin. "We were very pleased with our setter Jessica William's ability to spread out our offense and help create solid swings for our hitters!"
Vanguard recorded 53 kills, but not without a strong defensive effort by libero
Kacey Berger with 18 digs.
"We are looking forward to finishing this week strong in practice and a victory on the road at Menlo," Millhollin concluded.
The Warriors will have their final week of practice before traveling to Menlo College for the last match of the season, Saturday, Nov. 12th at 3pm.Â
