Warriors Surrender Late Goals in Both Halves in Loss to SF State

Jessup Still Searching for First Goal of Season, Battle with Another NCAA Level Opponent

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – It was a questionable penalty call late in the match Thursday that ended Jessup's season opener on a down note, and on Thursday the Warriors looked to avenge that loss as they took on another tough test in San Francisco State. The Gators were able to strike late in each half of Thursday's match, as they sent Jessup home once again on the losing edge, this time via 2-0.

San Francisco State entered Thursday's match after a late loss to Hope International, a member of the Golden State Athletic Conference, on Thursday. It was apparent that the Gators were out for revenge Saturday as they dominated time of possession and kept the Warriors on their heels, out shooting Jessup 22-8.

The Gators first goal of the day, and their first of the season, came late in the first half in the 44th minute. Jordan Wusstig found the back of the net off of a cross from Jonny Villeda. In goal in the first half for Jessup was junior Robert Harmelink (Modesto, CA). Harmelink allowed the one goal while recording 5 saves.

Jessup would be caught off guard late in the match as they were in all-out-attack mode looking to equalize the game. After being unable to find the net in their attacking third, the Gators struck for their second goal in the 89th minute, scored by Robert Leon off a Wusstig assist, off a counterattack the length of the field. Senior Nick Schnable (Rocklin, CA) was in goal for the second half, allowing one goal with 3 saves.

The Warriors were issued two cautions in the match, one to senior captain Alexander Thompson (Rocklin, CA) and the other to sophomore Christian Guzman (Sheridan, CA). The yellow card if Thompson's second in as many games.

One more road match sits on the schedule for Jessup before they finally get to return home for their official home opener. The Warriors will head to Merced to take on UC Merced on Tuesday. The match is set to take place at 3:00 p.m.
