KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Hitting the road for their first of two games in Oregon the Labor Day weekend, the William Jessup Lady Warriors were in Klamath Falls on Saturday to take on the Oregon Institute of Technology. Jessup took an early lead, but an all-out-attack by the Owls late in the game stole a victory as the Warriors fell by the score of 2-1.
Jessup got on the board first Saturday, as in just the 24th minute of play sophomore Hannah Lettington (Orangevale, CA) found the back of the net for her first goal of the season. The goal was assisted off a pass from senior Celia Rangel (Bakersfield, CA).
The Warriors started the match off hot, with momentum entirely in their favor. Jessup outshot the Owls 5-1 through the first fifteen minutes of the match, but Oregon Tech was able to step on the gas a bit to outshoot the Warriors 11-6 total in the first half Saturday.
In the closing stretches of the match, with the Warriors looking to hold on to their slim one goal lead, the Owls finally were able to find the back of the net in the 78th minute as Jodie Reoch took a pass within the 18-yard box from Cassidy Gosvener and was able to equalize the match. Just three minutes later the Owls struck again as it was Gosvener who scored off an assist from Tarryn Miyamura.
Jessup was only able to get off 4 shots in the second half, as opposed to eleven by the Owls in the closing 45-minutes. With the loss, the Warriors fall to 1-2 on the season.
The road trip continues on Monday as the Warriors will take on Southern Oregon University at 7:00 p.m. Following that match, Jessup will return home to face one of their old rivals from the California Pacific Conference, Marymount College, on September 10 at 1:30 p.m.
