ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warriors (15-9, 2-5) were unable to combat the Southern Oregon University Raiders red-hot offense
on Monday night, losing the match in straight sets. The Raiders would cruise to victory in the first set, holding the Warriors to a mere seven points. Set two told a different story, as the Warriors looked poised for a much-needed win, but came up short, losing 25-19. In set three, the Warriors were unable to generate enough of an offensive attack and lost 25-12.
Head coach
Shasta Millhollin said after the game, "
Tonight was a rough night. Unfortunately, some of our players were unexpectedly sick." With the situation at hand, Millhollin added, "We were forced to use an unfamiliar line-up." Millhollin concluded by saying, "We are hoping that
tomorrow will be much better!"
Leading the Warriors in kills was
Sydney Molander and Mackenzie Reeder-Esparza each with six and
Danielle Schoen close behind with five.
Alicia Borges had the team's lone ace on the night while Molander led with two blocks and teammates
Vendela Williams and
Kassidy Heuvelhorst each had one. With
Jessica Williams out
tonight, Borges filled in and led the team with 20 assists, and
Kacey Berger chipped in an assist as well. Berger made her impact on defense, leading the team with 10 digs, and Borges finished with 8 and
Taylor Jacky with six.
The Warriors will remain in Oregon, as they take on Oregon Institute of Technology,
on Tuesday evening at
7:00 P.M.
