Warriors Bounce Back to Take Down OIT, 3-1

Alicia Borges Helped the Team with 36 Assists on the Night

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – After a two-game road trip in Oregon, the Warriors will return home with a much-needed win, after defeating Oregon Institute of Technology (5-9, 2-3) in four sets. Early on in the first set, Oregon Tech appeared poised to claim a home court victory, winning the opening bout 25-18. However, the Warriors had other plans and came storming back to win the next three sets, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23, to take the match and advance to 16-9 overall.

After two consecutive tough losses head coach Shasta Millhollin praised her squad's effort, "The resilience of this team truly is unparalleled." As the team is currently without their nationally ranked setter, Jessica Williams, it has forced the team to shift the lineup on the fly and make the necessary adjustments. With the Warriors putting it all together Tuesday night winning a nail-biting contest Millhollin said, "Words cannot describe how proud we are. We were down in every single set tonight, and we did not let it phase us."

Sydney Molander led the way for the Warriors tonight tallying 13 kills while Danielle Schoen had 12 and Mackenzie Reeder-Esparza finished with 7. Alicia Borges had a big role to step into tonight filling in for Jessica Williams, and she delivered, leading the team with 36 assists as well as aces with three. Taylor Jacky led the way with 13 digs as Borges and Berger each chipped in 11. Reeder-Esparza was a leader on the defensive front with a team-high four blocks with Kassidy Heuvelhorst and Molander finishing with three blocks each.

After playing a busy schedule of four games in five days, and two straight on the road in Oregon, the Warriors will get some much-needed rest. The Warriors will be back in action in one week's time, on the road for another non-conference showing taking on UC Santa Cruz, Tuesday, October 10th.
