ATHERTON, Calif. - Hitting the road for their final road series of the season, the Warriors baseball team headed to Menlo College for their first conference meeting but not their first outing with the Oaks. In game one of the series on Friday at Menlo High School, Jessup answered back to an early Oaks' lead, but were unable to hang onto the advantage falling to Menlo 5-3.
Toeing the rubber for the Warriors was Tristan Pryblinski who pitched a total six innings before relief came in allowing five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
Calvin Bonilla finished for Jessup with the final two innings in the books, giving up just two hits, no runs, with a total 4 strikeouts.
The Oaks started things off in the bottom of the first frame with a two-run homer by Julian Jarrard to take an early lead, but the Warriors answered right back in the top of the second inning with a pair of doubles.
Joshua Duitsman and
Javier Garcia struck first with a set of singles, followed by
Joey Torres bringing in the first run to score Garcia. With two outs
Alex Nasukiewicz knocked in a two-run double for the 3-2 advantage over the Oaks.
Menlo would answer back in the bottom of the third with Jarrard's second two-run homer of the game (4-3), followed by a run in the bottom of the sixth with one run on two hits on a Warrior error.
Unable to push another one across the plate, the Warriors dropped game one of the three game series 5-3. Saturday the series will continue with a doubleheader starting at 12pm.
