OT Ends In Heartbreak for the Warriors

Jessup Held Nationally Ranked Masters for 99 Minutes

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Closing out their two-game conference road series, Jessup women's soccer headed to The Master's University to take on their second ranked opponent of the week. In true Warrior fashion coming off a tough loss, Jessup was ready for the next challenge and held the nationally ranked Mustangs for 99 minutes before they scored the game-winning goal in the last 8 seconds.

"Today was a heartbreaker," head coach Rachel Constantini said. "The girls played so well and again executed the game plan we created perfectly. It's truly a testament to this team's growth to watch them battle with two of the best teams in the country right now."

Still looking for their first win, the Warriors showed no sign of letting up no matter the rank they are put up against. In the first half junior captain, Yvette Perez proved just that taking the one-versus-one opportunity against the Mustangs keeper and placing it in the left top corner of the net in the 4th minute for the 1-0 lead.

The Mustangs would answer back in the 20th minute with their own goal in the box to level the playing field at one apiece for what would be the remainder of regulation.

Defending the posts for the Warriors was Camille Cavey who tallied six total saves, two of them coming in the final 10 minutes of overtime. The home team would strike in the final minute of the game, final seconds even, to score the game-winning goal with 8 seconds remaining on the clock.

"Our record does not speak to the talent of this team but when you watch them play it's undeniable that they can compete with anyone," Constantini reflected. "As much as we are disappointed with a loss, it's a very exciting time for our program as we finally feel like we are piecing together all of our hard work."

With the first week of conference play behind them and against their toughest opponents, the Warriors will take on another pair of Southern California teams on the road next week in Vanguard University (9/28) and Hope International (9/30).
