COSTA MESA, Calif. - Hitting the road for their second back-to-back conference matchups in a row, the women's' soccer team took on the nationally ranked (7) Vanguard Lions who came out on top 3-0.
"Today was a very tough battle," head coach
Rachel Constantini said. "Vanguard is a talented squad and capitalized on our mistakes. We had our opportunities but we struggled to convert."
Defensively the Warriors worked hard on the backline deflecting Vanguards shots with transfer sophomore
Camille Cavey grabbing a season and career-high 15 saves, tied for most saves in program history for a single game.
The Lions would take the lead in the 16th minute 1-0 and add another goal late in the half.Â
The final goal from the Lions found the back of the net in the 57th minute to secure the 3-0 victory.
The Warriors will have a day off tomorrow before wrapping up their Southern California road trip at Hope International on Saturday, kickoff slated for 12 pm.
"We look forward to the challenges ahead," Constantini stated. "If anything this is a solid reminder that, in this conference, you can't have an off game."
