ROCKLIN, Calif. - Coming off a hard-fought game the night before, the Warriors were slow out the gate but rallied back to defeat The Master's University in the four-set match, 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-22) clinching their first conference win of the season (14-7, 1-4).

"Today we came out sluggish in set one," said head coach Shasta Millhollin. "We knew that the loss in the first set was an opportunity to come back stronger the rest of the match. We have been working on grinding through out-of-system situations. Tonight we were out of system a lot. Instead of giving up we dug our heels in and played through each play both in and out of system."

Both teams matched point-for-point early in the first set tied at 10 each before the Mustangs went on an 8-0 run forcing the Warriors to take a timeout to gain composure. After the break, the Warriors came out with a 7-1 comeback but came up just shy dropping the first set, 21-25. 

With the first set behind them, the Warriors defended home court taking the next three sets from the Mustangs with an outstanding offensive performance from starting middle Vendela Williams tallying 12 kills with 3 blocks. The sophomore was accompanied by a dynamic duo in senior Kassidy Heuvelhorst who had 9 kills and a single block, and Danielle Schoen who posted 7 kills and a block.

Schoen also led the Warriors with a tied single-game record 5 aces, both for the season and in program history.  

Defensively Sydney Molander led the block party with four herself, while also recording 3 kills. Starting libero for the Warriors Kacey Berger led the floor tonight with 17 digs, as sophomore teammate Taylor Jacky was close behind with 15.

"It was a balanced effort from all players today with our bench providing lots of much-needed energy," Millhollin concluded.

Splitting on the weekend, the Warriors will look to do the same next week as they host another conference double-header hosting Arizona Christian on Friday at 7 pm and San Diego Christian on Saturday at 2 pm.
