Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Brie Campbell

Warriors Unable to Connect Against No. 16 Vanguard

COSTA MESA, Calif. - The Jessup men's soccer team kicked off their final Southern California two-game road trip against nationally ranked (16) Vanguard University but were unable to find the back of the net in a 4-0 loss to the Lions.

The Lions were hot out the gate striking in the first four minutes of the contest making a connection on the cross to head it to the upper right corner, 1-0 Vanguard.

Looking to counter, the Warriors were quick to take it to the other side of the field as junior Conner Entz took a shot on goal, but the Vanguard keeper made the save to remain on top.

Adding another goal in the 15th minute, the Lions kept the two-goal advantage heading into halftime as the Warriors were outshot by their opponent 3 to 10 after the first 45 minutes of competition.

The Warriors had a pair of opportunities to kick-off the second half with a pair of corner kicks delivered by Daniel Cervantes, but the blue and white were unable to make the connection to get on the board.

In the 66th-minute the Warriors would foul in the box for a Lion's penalty kick, but senior goalkeeper Robert Harmelink was assisted by the right post to deflect the ball. Harmelink played 71 minutes for the Warriors with six saves on the day.

Not too much later the Lions found the back of the net to go up 3-0 in the 66th minute and the final 4-0 after a goal in the 74th minute.

The Warriors are still on a quest for their first conference win and look forward to the break on Friday before taking on Hope International on Saturday at 2:30 pm at Fullerton City College.
