Despite Vredenburgh goal, Warriors unable to beat Ottawa University Arizona

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Warriors were looking to finish out the last road trip on the conference season on a high note as they faced off against Ottawa University Arizona Spirit. Unfortunately, the Warriors were unable to deliver as the final score read 2-1. The loss takes the Warriors to a 6-8 record, 2-4 in GSAC.

The first half started with an early lead by the Spirit, but Jessup held on. In the 13th minute, Johnny Muresan took a corner and Derek Vredenburgh redirected it into the top left corner to tie the game, 1-1. Vredenburgh's goal was his first of the season. The Warriors and Spirit were locked even during the rest of the first half, but the Warriors put up a strong offensive showing, getting off five shots on goal to the Spirit's two. The Warriors also took five corners in the first half due to a strong offensive push; the Spirit took two corners.

The second half saw the Spirit fighting back, and the Warriors were unable to meet that momentum. The Warriors conceded a penalty kick in the 78th minute. Ottawa took advantage of the penalty kick and took the lead, 2-1.

Overall the Warriors put up a strong fight. The Warriors were able to get off 12 shots, seven on goal, while the Spirit sent off 11 shots, six on goal. The Warriors drew four fouls while the Spirit drew nine.
