Norcal Duel Favors Oaks in 3-2 Loss

Worley hit her first goal of the season while Abigail House snags her third

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Warriors hosted their first of three games at home to close out the regular season starting with the Norcal conference foe, Menlo College on Saturday afternoon. The Oaks and Warriors would exchange a pair of goals until Menlo took the final lead to start the second half for the 3-2 advantage.

Striking first was the visiting Oaks with an early lead in the second minute as the Warriors struggled to clog the middle and a center shot was sent to the right post for the first goal of the season.

But they wouldn't stay ahead for long as junior Katie Worley was set up by senior Yvette Perez to score her first goal of the season with a run up the right side and a shot right over the goalie for a tied game in the 13th minute.

The Oaks would answer again off the right post as they regained the lead in the 16th minute.

With just two minutes remaining before the break, the Warrior's Abigail House had a one-v-one with the Oak's keeper, striking the back of the net with a rocket from 10 yards out, Hannah Massagli added the assist. It would be a tied game headed into halftime at two each.

Edging the Oaks in the first half, the Warriors had 8 shots to the visiting Menlo's 7, but the roles would reverse in the second half 6-to-4. In the first minute of the second half, Menlo would hit what would be the game-winning goal for the 3-2 victory.

Defending the posts for the Warriors was junior Camille Cavey who snagged six saves, five coming in the latter half.

Jessup will host their final two regular season games next week starting with Mills College on Wednesday with a non-conference matchup at 3:30 pm, capping it off against nationally ranked Vanguard University on Saturday for senior day starting at 11 am.
