Jessup Basketball Cruises to Fifth-Consecutive Win

Zaragoza and Hagerty led the Warriors in double-digits

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Warriors cruised to their fifth straight win as they defeated Westcliff University 90-55 on Monday afternoon making their mark in the record books for the program's fourth most points scored.

It took two and a half minutes for either team to score out the gate but the Warriors were able to hit the board first and once they were  there was no looking back. Lily Hagerty would score 8 points in the opening quarter as Jessup quickly jumped out to a 24-7 lead after the first ten minutes.

The second quarter was Jessup's toughest test as Westcliff held them to 13 points and would match it with 13 of their own. Heading into the second half, Jessup was on top 37-20.

Jessup came out firing to start the second half as they had their highest scoring quarter in the third, putting up 27 points. The half was sparked by Miranda Zaragoza as she scored 6 straight points, igniting an 11-0 run for Jessup. By the end of the quarter, Jessup led 64-33.

The fourth quarter was the games highest scoring frame as the two teams put up a combined 48 points, with Jessup outscoring Westcliff 26-22 to win 90-55, for the programs fourth-highest point total in a game.

It was an offensive explosion for Jessup as ten different players scored in the game. Miranda Zaragoza led with 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as well. Lily Hagerty had another effective night scoring the ball as she finished with 15 points while shooting 60-percent from the field. Liz Gehweiler finished in double figures with 12 points and added 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Cre Bryant had a productive game with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Jessup will be back in action on their home floor on Tuesday at 11 AM as they take on the Pacific Union College Pioneers for Youth School Day where all students and parents will have free entrance to the game.
