Lone Goal Secures Warriors Win over Lions

Senior Janelle Schuette scores her second goal of the season as the Warriors advance to 2-1

ROCKLIN, Calif. - Hosting their second of a four-game homestand, the Warriors hit a season-high 19 shots against the Multnomah Lions Saturday afternoon with the single goal of the game going to Jessup for the victory, advancing to 2-1 on the season.

Head coach Rachel Constantini said, "Today's contest was another great opportunity for us to examine where we need to fine-tune our play before we get to conference. The girls did a lot of things well, but we will not be satisfied until we are playing consistently all 90 minutes."

The Warriors came out aggressive with 8 shots in comparison to Lion's nill in the first half, proving Jessup's defensive put a stop to Multnomah getting into the Warrior's territory.

With just one minute remaining in the first half, the Warriors would strike the back of the net in what would be the only goal in the game with a nice connection from junior Isabel House to senior Janelle Schuette to finish it up the center for the 1-0 advantage headed into the break.

The second half was similar to first as the Warriors had 11 shots,  4 of which were on goal just missing off the post or deflected. The Lions would continue to battle with three shots in the final 45-minutes,  a pair of them on goal.

With the clock winding down and the Lions with the ball in Warrior territory, junior Camille Cavey had a huge diving save in the 68' minute to keep their opponent off the board.

With a lot of season left and top competition coming up Constantini is looking forward to seeing her team working hard, "These girls have exceptional heart and know how to grind through tough matches, we are excited to see what they are able to make happen this season!"

Time expired as the Warriors are now 2-1 overall headed into their next matchup against Oregon Tech on Monday at 11 am.
