Schuette Scores Solo Goal as Knight Hit Game-Winner in Final Minutes

Warriors go 74 minutes scoreless but Knights come-up with last chance goal in 2-1 loss

ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Jessup women's soccer team hit the road for their first of two road contests for the week stopping at the Academy of Arts in San Francisco first with a hard-fought battle to the finish as the ladies were tied up until the 86th minute, then the Knights scored the game-winning goal to take it 2-1.

"Although it wasn't the result we worked for, the girls showed a tremendous amount of heart," head coach Rachel Constantini said. "We were able to battle back from being down and tie the game up but the clock wasn't on our side today."

It would be another early lead for the Warrior's opponent as Academy of the Arts hit the board first in the 6th minute of the game, in the same amount of time the Warriors would answer back to even the score.

Familiar forward, Janelle Schuette would hit the equalizer in the 12th minute with an assist by Maddy Rojas. Scoring her fifth goal, the senior now has hit her career-high goals scored in a single-season.

The game would go scoreless for the remainder of the first half and well into the second, but after 74 minutes the Knights would hit the go-ahead goal in the 86th minute as the Warriors had a last chance shot that missed high.

Recently named GSAC Defender of the Week, Camille Cavey did it again for the Warriors with an outstanding game in goal with eight saves to keep the Knights at only two goals in their 19 shots taken.

"Going a goal down with 3 minutes to play is never easy but the girls fought until the last minute. Camille continues to impress us with her performances every game, posting another high save count today," Constantini concluded.

The Warriors will finish the week at UC Merced on Friday for a 7 pm kickoff.
