ATHERTON, Calif. - The Warriors wrapped up their preseason play with a familiar opponent in Menlo College for a non-conference matchup. While outshooting the Oaks by nearly 10 shots, the Warriors were not able to find the back of the net, falling to the Oaks 2-0.
"Unfortunately today, the scoreboard does not reflect the quality of play that the girls produced," head coach
Rachel Constantini reflected. "Statistically the game should have been ours but we struggled to find the back of the net and Menlo capitalized on their opportunities."
The Warriors and Oaks would remain scoreless through nearly 44 minutes before a last chance opportunity for the home team broke the scoring streak with Menlo going up 1-0 with just 40 seconds remaining in the first half.
In the second half, the ball would favor the Warrior's offensive with many shots just high or wide set in by leaders
Yvette Perez,
Madison Leonhardt and
Maddy Rojas.Â
The final goal of the game would make its way for the Oaks in the 83rd minute to take the 2-0 advantage to the end.Â
Constantini concluded as they head into conference matchups, "We are doing all the right things and I am confident we will find a way to put it all together and get the results we work for."
The Warriors will have another opportunity against the Oaks but on home turf later in the season where they will play their conference battle. Jessup will hit the road next week with their first GSAC contest on Thursday against the nationally ranked Westmont Warriors, followed by Hope International on Saturday.
